Summer Task One {Notes}

Easy Rider - Cemetery Acid Trip Notes {1969}

Quotes from film description:
  • 'Wyatt and Billy try to revel in New Orleans with some LSD and hookers (Karen Black and Toni Basil), but the acid trip is shot through with morbidity. '
Shot Types:
  • Wide Shot
  • Close-Up
  • Mid-Shot
  • Extreme Close-Up
Angles:
  • Tilted Upwards {when revealing the run-down church behind them}
  • Opening scene {shot with a slight tilt to the right, the camera isn't positioned central to the characters it is positioned slightly to the left of them then tilted right.}
Lighting Techniques:
  • Natural Lighting {throughout the duration of the scene}
Editing:
  • Slow paced {during the opening of the sequence}
  • Zoom {from close up shot into an extreme close up of the sun}
  • Framing {the religious lady is framed within the centre with a slight tilt upwards - which indicates she has more power than the other people within this scene. there is a strong white light in the background which could suggest she is an angel complimenting the words she is speaking}
  • Door Framing {a lady getting undressed is positioned in the middle of two opening doors creating a natural frame}
  • Jump Cuts
  • Fast Paced editing {during the acid trip}
Sound:
  • Dialogue {the main characters in conversation - diegetic}
  • Ladies voice {she is reading a religious statement - the sound starts of non-diegetic before we are introduced to the clip of her conducting the speech then it changes to diegetic sound}
